Hi there, New to the site and daytona ownership, got the bike last sat, I love it.... however, on the way to work this morning, I managed to run over an alloy ladder on the M1... Not good, managed to stay on, but there's a big dent in the front wheel, and a small one on the rear, Got recovered home, and think I'm going to need at least a new front.. the forks also seem to be saggier, but not sure.. Anyway, The wheels on my 02 daytona... are they the same as the earlier bikes? I'm guessing the rear is different due to the single sided swing arm on earlier bikes, but your help would be greatly appreciated.. I want to get a replacement as cheaply and as soon as possible and there appears to be far more of the earlier wheels available on ebay etc... Cheers for any help in advance! Greg

if it has the 5 bolt discs on it it is a later one and different to to the earlier one and the difference is the bearings and they are not available to retrofit an early wheel to a later bike.(the difference is actually the spindle and the method of fixing) look at www.bikebandit.com as the schematics explain it.

The front wheel on my wets for my GSXR has been repaired (before I bought it), and it's never given me any problems at all. Not sure who repaired it, but I might be able to find out.

I've got a rear from a 2002 Double side swing arm model if needed.

The wheel can usually be repaired depending on badly the dented. If its just the outer edge. I find flea-bay a good source of replacement bits.

[edited]:
greg, i had an 02 D955 that hit a pothole hard enough to JUST curl the lip on the front rim enough to lose air, but only if it was parked wrong.. i bought a new rim and replaced it prime candidate for straightening (minimal work needed) if you are interested, i'll see if my friend still has it (at last report he did)
