Not walkable..... tis about 3 or 4 miles from the pub.... there is a B&B at the end of the road from the pub... I think there was a link in the scropmas 07 thread will have a look....

I had to demolish wunno they when I lived with my parents.... we moved into a pre war house in Epping it had an Anderson shelter in the garden took me and me day two days to get rid of it broke it up with sledgehammers and loaded it into a skip..... what fun that was

yep, built to withstand a proximity hit !

frightening how many were killed cos they stayed indoors - got some maps of NW london areas with civilian deaths plotted - ie bomb hits on estates - a lot !

As late as 1977 my nan still had her shelter in her garden in Chigwell Row.... My Sis and I used to play in it with my cousins when I lived there briefly while me dad was on Far Eastern Duty and me mum was in hospital having my little bruv circa 65/66
