Daytona 955i (99-01)

I downloaded your tune from the knowledgebase quite a while ago and recently got round to loading it. I've been running it for about 500 miles now (with some very minor tweaks at the bottom end) and I'm quite amazed at how crisp it feels (not dynoed it yet) but the biggest eye opener is the fuel economy! I used to average about 130-140 of 'mixed' miles before the fuel light, now I'm regularly seeing 160+!
Although this is good news, I'm now worried that it's running lean so I'm going to dyno it in the next month and see how it's doing, as we all know, no two engines are identical!
I'm running a K&N and a modified stock pipe (i.e. gutted and converted to a straight through) so it should be quite close to your bike's spec.
Just thought you might like some feedback.

Hi Doc thanks for the input, when I built the tune it was based on t he standard tune up to 3.5K and then spliced in with what was Erick B's tune so above 5K it was all Ericks tune. I run it on a dyno and had to weaken fuel by approx 15% to get near 13:1 AF ratio, since then I have played about with it some more and hope to get it on a dyno again soon , change the ignition map this time so weeeeeelllll see what happens

Hi Paul, I've loaded your tune today and went for a blast. It definitely is smoother than the tune that was in the bike (stock), feels good.

A couple of questions, I noticed that it pinked a couple of times if I overloaded at low revs, did you notice this at all? or it could be a lower octane fuel I'm using I guess. Also you mentioned above about another tweak to the tune, do you have much success and is it available? Cheers.

Hi K-K the tune was built around my 955i which had a KN air filter and a low level scorpion end can and 18/45 sprockets , the tune has since been developed by the great Xman on his dyno, and the mid range was vastly improved and a few HP at the top. The graph should be on site some where if not I'm sure Xman will have a copy. I used normal 2 star unleaded and can't say I had any pinking I think the revamped tune is also on the site for download. try it and give us your thoughts on it.

nope, we tried and tried but no matter what we did to fuelling and timing the dip resolutely remained. You ought to have seen it with another exhaust on it was even worse IIRC. I would love to try that tune on another engine just to see. Or maybe we didn't have time to try, I can't remeber now and not even sure that that is the last tune we did. I really need to check on the dyno itself.

Tony this must be towards the end of the day due to the mid range increase, after talking with the exhaust bloke if you remember we came to the conclusion that the collector box was most likely the problem due to gas flow speed/volume and we were going to change the spare one I have to our own design and try it again on the dyno but other things of more importance called a halt. We could try and tempt Daz to lend us his motor

I've been uploading several of the tunes from the KB and trying them out, the conclusions so far:

Paul Cooper tune. Smoothest of the ones I tried. Pinks a bit, pops in the exhaust a bit on over-run.
Homologated altered for Paul Cooper Not is good as the above, surges at lower revs.
Homologated A lot of surging at lower revs, not nice in town.
Daytona W2K (FUCHS optimized) Similar to above a bit less surging.
Daytona Perso At lower revs just a little surging, over 5,000 goes like a rocket! Felt the most powerful.

So, if I had the bottom half of the Paul Cooper tune and the top half of the Daytona Perso it would be perfect.

Please don't take any offence anyone who made these tunes with my comments , this is just how I found they worked on my bike and we all know each bike is a little different. I appreciate the time and cost of creating these tunes, many thanks for making them available.

There is a dyno shop about 3 miles down the road to me that I have spoken to about him running it and having a look at correcting the maps for my bike. I can't really do anything else as I'm not knowledgeable enough on these things and don't want to blow the motor up particularly. Will let you know the progress.

KK the tune code Tony has posted the print out for was the best one we built the mid range was just great and low down it ran at 30mph around town in 4/ 5 th gear OK . Did you do a TP reset after uploading the tune also do a IVCA's test as well, and the CO needs to be 3.0/3.5 % as well

Hi Paul, I did a TPS reset at ever tune change, but adjusted the CO to 2%, I didn't adjust the IACV as the idle was about right (has been throughout most tunes).

I could easily increase the CO, but I thought it was only relevant at idle? Am I wrong, does it have an effect thoughout the rev range? I do have a different exhaust to you, I don't know how much that will throw the figures out? (Blueflame high level).

Booked into the dyno place wednesday, I'll update after.
