Speed Triple 955i (02-04)

11 May 2008 23:20
My mate, the local Triumph mechanic, popped round yesterday afternoon. He'd forgotten to bring something with him, so I offered him the Speed Triple to go and get it (haven't been out on it yet, long story!).
Key, clutch, starter - all good. Leaves it running for a mo to warm up, swings his leg over the bike to hoon off into the distance and says "Bloody hell mate, that's running hot!".
Has a look at the rad - bit clogged down the centre-section with road-shit, but nothing too serious. Looks at the fan - it's jammed solid! Apparently the 955s all have this issue, the front wheel flings dirt up behind the rad into the fan-housing. Must keep an eye on that - he managed to free it off and all seems well now but a fender-extender is definitely going to be ordered, as he tells me that it takes no time at all for the fan to burn out when it's stuck like that.
Check your fans, people......

Mine collapsed!

New one - stopped recently?
A quick "Turn" by hand sorted it, and got the shit out!
