Daytona T595 (97-98)

Bought a 1050 Sprint motor as a retrofit into my aging 595 complete motor with TB's but no ecu etc.
Then, at the same time by chance came across a rather tired but complete 2002/147bhp Dayto from a member here-it has everything i needed in order to fit its 147bhp lump into the 595, so i bought it.
Would ideally prefer to fit the 1050 lump and was wondering if it would run using the 147 Dayto ECU (no idea what ecu is fitted to the 1050 engines but £££ is a limiting factor in buying one).
On closer examination the injectors form both engines look the same, the ICAV is different but i think i can get over that, the rest of the engine plugs are the same, dimensionally the Khenlin TB's of the 1050 are identical to those on the 147, so even the airbox will bolt up.
I realise that the Dayto engine maps would be wrong for the 1050 but again i wonder if the 1050 Sprint maps could be downloaded to the Dayto ecu?
All comments welcome, thanks MF.

Ps, as my computer skills are somewhat limited, could someone post up a 147bhp torque curve and a 1050 torque curve for comparison??

Speed Triple (05->)

OK then, you will need a Daytona or Speed Triple 2002+ wiring loom, ECU, dash and fuel sender unit, your fuel pump is fine. If you treat the 1050 motor as nothing more than a stroked 955 motor it will be a bit simpler for you to understand.

If your Daytona head is good, just swap the lot over to the 1050 bottom end,
Use all the Daytona parts, airbox and headers. Install a mild Daytona tune and add 5% to10% extra fuel and take 2 deg out of the ignition to start with spend a day mapping and you will have a monster strokatona motor.
The 1050 will rev ok up to 10k, it’s got forged pistons just like in the Daytona.

The other alternative is, remove the throttle bodies and injectors from the 1050 motor, you will notice that the 1050 is missing the three brass tubes like on the Daytona head. They are for the stepper motor pipes, you will need to drill the head and install them in order to use the Daytona throttle bodies and stepper motor. The 1050 uses a different system to control idle.

Once all that is done you can now use the Daytona airbox with the 1050 air trumpets, the airbox top will need some cutting to fit under the old style tank.

Fuel gauge will also need to be fixed, radiator will need a remote cap etc, sort that out later!!!

Headers, the 1050 ones will do the job if you are using the 1050 cams.
A suggested TuneBoy tune would be for a late model 955 Speedy or Sprint tune and a day on the dyno to map it should see you right.

All of the above sounds easy, I have left a few things out though PM me if you get stuck…. Take care with the cam timing and head assembly and obviously you will need a new head gasket!!!

Cheers for your input Steve..

Out of interest, what are the differences between the 1050 head and the Dayto 147bhp head?

And, in relation to fitting different cams to the 1050, as the Dayto 147 has cams that are designed to give the engine peak output at 11K plus rpm, would fitting a pair of cams from the older shape 130bhp engine be of any benefit as they give peak power a bit sooner-(if indeed they will fit in the 1050 motor that is!?)?

Lastly as i don't have any headers for the 1050, will the Dayto ones suffice?

Many thanks MF
