I have been looking for a Triump riders group / club that was relevant to Dorset and not tied to the dealership in anyway. The reason I wanted to do this was for collective knowledge purposes. Obviously there isnt one, which has prompted me to create a group on facebook for those interested : Dorset Triumph Riders - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22494054664 Obviously this does require that you are a member in Facebook. If the above link does not work, just go to 'Groups' and search for Dorset Triump Riders

Thanks for relocating my message, will try and put others in the same area. Im not looking to take anything away from t595, its a great site and Ive used it for a while now. There are some big Triumph groups on facebook already, and being honest I think they are a bit pointless when you can come to a site like t595. However Facebook does do one thing really well and that is tie together people and locality...one or two riders would be really handy I hate thinking that triumph riders are sensible and middleaged. Surely the target rider for the new Street triple or the Daytona must be a likely facebook user?

If you get any response on Facebook, which is shite, best direct them straight on to here anyway.

Yes, as I said Im not taking anything away from t595, its a good site and I wouldn't stop using it. Its all about pecking order. For example I use TriumphRat.Net, and their sheer scale offers things that t595 can't. But then I wouldnt go to them when for example I was discussing something like where the best place to find an exhaust, its not the right site. Similarly information so specific as to relate to Dorset for example is not quite right for t595, in a way if everyone started generating stuff about their local area t595 would soon be clogged up with useless information. Facebbok isnt really good or bad. Its what people do with it that counts. Its only an extension of email really.

No no no no! Not my end of the country, I'm afraid.... I'm not a member of TOMCC anymore. No big reason why... I used to be involved with a different branch. There are a few folks on here who are members of TOMCC, and Barney is (or used to be) one of the South West RAT pack leaders, I fink. I don't know anyone from Somerset and Dorset branch (or Plymouth, I don't know which is nearer to you) He could probably point you in direction of someone local. I must say - I reckon their subs are very reasonable! £15 a year, a monthly mag not full of adverts, and stuff to read? Gotta be good! I don't think the dealers are meant to promote the club - conflict of interest with RAT? Best of luck though, Louis!

Don't sack me yet TonTee still Bridge's RAT pack leader once you get the job it's hard to get away. I've been nominated for another year and when I said I was going to pack it in I got a lot of stick from the pack regulars, so being a softy said I would stay on. If I don't arrange things it doesn't happen the mangement were going to arrange the Christmas meal this year still waiting.

Sorry Barney! Didn't mean to cause a fence... Wish you all the best with RAT pack stuff - I've never been involved with a RAT, so I don't know how it works in reality - but I can sure imagine! Is there any sort of rivalry between RAT and TOMCC?

None taken TonTee. There is no rivalry from the RAT side some of the beards from TOMCC mumble Hinckley Triumph "Bah". RAT was actually formed because TOMCC wouldn't let Hinckley Triumph owners join so Mr Bloor ordered his own club be formed and make it better than touther one and tell TOMCC members to feck off if they want to join. But that's all in the past and they are all welcome ,in my case as long as you've got a bike you're welcome, draw the line at Hardleys you've got to have some standards. All you do is look for the RAT dates in a Triumph dealers and turn up when you like and I'm sure you will be made very welcome. You don't even need to belong to RAT

Might do that Barney... But - and I'd need to check me history books here - but IIRC, Hinckleys were welcomed from day 1 as a club (they were where I was, at least) but the rule change was slow. However, I do agree that some 'beards' at TOMCC did look down upon them at first. More fool them - and those opinons either don't exist or don't count anymore. BTW, I thnk most folks draw the line at Hardleys.... You'll have to tell me the summer runs plans for Bridge sometime - might quite like to tag along for a blast!

Well thanks for all the info. It appears its one of those glass half full, half empty moments. You could say I could pick from Bridge or 3X RATS, as well as TOMCC Somerset and Dorset, but Im on the very outside edge of all three. Serves me right for living somewhere so rural I guess, but its still better than living in London. At least the car drivers are friendly when they pull out without warning, and theres no scooters caught in my spokes as of yet. Maybe my original idea was not as mad as it sounds. What makes me laugh about Harley rider groups is that you see them riding round en masse ( and Ive seen groups of a hundred or more in London ), sporting leather waistcoats and studded saddle bags a la iron horse. Normally theres not one of them under sixty. Its like the geriatric chapter of the not so hells angels. Still there having fun, bless em. Would you say there is a typical Triumph rider in a group such as Bridge or TOMCC S & D?

Louis we are at Bridge are a real mixed bag ages from 19 to 60+ most of us are 35 to 50 that's me Daytonas to Bonnies I think we have had every bike built by Hinckley on our runs over the years. Types of rider every kind, one bloke who rides a Bonnie like a lunatic who would show a lot of sports bike riders the way home and a 675 rider who's one of the slowest. The 19 year old rides a Super 3. Most are time served bikers with nothing to prove and all but a few would take some losing in the twisties any idiot can do a 140 plus on the straight. Single riders of both sexes, husbands and pillion wives, boy friends and pillion girl friends all are welcome. Large sence of humour required piss taking is endemic and well ment a really nice bunch of people.
