I've inherited a TomTom Rider V1 recently from my brother who has upgraded to a Zumo. I didn't think there was a lot of room to mount the unit but I came across recommendations for Telefrizer mounts (www.telferizer.co.uk) on various websites so thought I would give that a try. I went over to his workshop today as I live close by and he fitted one of his custom mounts to the centre nut on the top yolk. The GPS then mounts to this via a 3" RAM arm. It seems a good solution as the GPS is in the centre of the cockpit and clearly in view even with a tankbag fitted and seems very secure. It does obscure the rev counter a bit but this could be cured with a shorter RAM arm. I've no affiliation with this guy, but thought this may be helpful to someone else on here. Some poor quality photos (from phone - sorry) are below: The mount on its own Inline Image TomTom attached Inline Image

Make SURE to use a, Strap........... STRONG elastic band....yes, the V1 is KNOWN to work loose on the mounting bracket, leading to, Worn contact pins Losing it down the road I have a strap from a bloke in the UK, that pretty much holds it secure to the mount............. otherwise, I am v happy with it, fairly good w/proofing, fairly good in use, can give you rather weird mapping routes though!!! .......< As do they all, I suspect!!!

Quote: Upon really looking at your pic, I see you have it pretty much immobilised with the extra metal mount | The extra metal mount is made by Wunderlich and was about £30. It holds the GPS really tightly (stopping pin boring) and also means it can't be stolen so easily if left on the bike for a while e.g. at a petrol station... The unit already suffered from pin-boring and wasn't charging correctly. I took it apart yesterday and put some solder on the contacts to fill in the holes and bulk them out a bit and it works fine now!

Looks very secure.........I just have a large/custom made rubber strap thingy, which SEEMS to do the job............... I heard rumours that if you actually lose/damage your Ver 1, due to mount breaks etc etc TomTom are replacing with the Ver 2 Rider/////!!! Might be worth "losing" it..............................!!!
