On opening up and delving into the engine it was soon clear that the cam followers etc. were not the cause of the noise as all were fine. On going in a little deeper and only when removing the pistons did we discover that the big end on the timing side has failed However our engine builder has another crank (not enough time to regrind the existing), con rod etc. so all is in place to be at Mallory for the testing on Wednesday 30th.
