I think some dealers stash bikes away and sell them on years later , I've seen Yamaha YDS7's, Honda GL1200's on sale new at least ten years after they were current bikes, mind you the prices were not much cheaper than the latest models on sale. Padgetts at Batley is one dealer where I have seen new "old" bikes for sale occasionally. Probably stash them away as investments, then sell them on when they think the market is good

Agreed, though some are old (Redundancy) stock! - a mate of mine bought a Yamaha "Genesis" a couple of years ago from Padgets, brand spankers! - it had been in a dealers for about 10+ years - he loves it, as he had one when they were........."Current"

Though many years ago a "Vincent Black Shadow" was re-patriated from.....Australia? (I think) - but what do you do with it - it was priced ridiculously high, but, out of the crate????
I would rather ride it than look at a bloody crate!!!!

So what would you do with it????

For $18K or £9K you could buy an old one and restore it! (And have some money left)

Best left to a Museum!

There was another commando on ebay maybe a couple years ago literally still in the crate, cnady apple red and stunning. If I remember it went for less than half this one is at now and it really was flawless.

But store it, or ride it ?

Seems a terrible waste not to ride it, but you wouldn't want too miles on it.

I think I'd ride it. On the other hand I cannot see spending that kind of money on it even if it is original and basically unridden. Could have a variety of fantastic British bikes for that price and qudruple the fun.

A few years ago I bought a brand new, 7-year old, 1995 Daytona 1200 from a dealer in Rochester, NY. Got it on E-Bay. It actually came with a 2-year warranty. Had a lot of fun with that bike. The story of how I got it and a couple of my trips on it are here:

Nice stories Joe!

And some nice photo's - I agree with your sentiment - Use it!!!

I spent some time in NF with my S3, before returning with it to the UK - I must get some miles in Europe on it..........soon!

As I have mates that have moved to France...........so, easy!
