Would it be possible to click on the small envelope for a topic and be taken to the first unread message instead of opening and then clicking "New Messages"?

You could still click on the item as per normal if you wanted to open it as per normal.

I take it this was never considered?

I'm new here and the other forums (fora?) that I frequent (eg Bikers Oracle) have this function. It saves huge amounts of time.
