Speed Triple 955i (02-04)
12 Apr 2008 23:10 |
Hi, I've just bought myself a Speed Triple and am loving it, it makes a great change from my previous sports bikes. The noise at the top end of the revs is superb so I've just bought a 2nd hand Triumph (not for road use) can to liberate it a bit more. I understand that I need to get the ECU re-programmed for use with the new can and wandered what my options were as my budget is limited. Do all dealers charge the same for uploading the new settings, or is it worth phoning around? Thanks for any info.

welcome PE ! Depends on the dealer - some will 'throw it in' whilst doing other stuff, others will charge - should never be more than 15 mins tho ... see if someone more local knows more ...

Thanks for the Welcome. I'm guessing some places may have a minimum charge of an hours labour whereas others might be a bit more flexible either charging for the time taken or a flat fee. I'll probably have to phone round on Monday but I didn't know if anyone here might have some previous experience with dealers within a reasonable distance from Exeter.

Bridge charge £11.50 + VAT for a remap or that was what I paid last time. Might have gone up a bit takes all of 5mins.

I phoned Bridge this morning and they said it was a flat fee of £25, I think that's a little on the high side given like you say it's a 5 minute job, but Total Triumph wanted £45 !!! So I'll be popping down to Bridge tomorrow as long as the can arrives on time.

hi and good choice - I've come from a sports back ground and am glad I opted out of the power race. £25 aint bad if you consider the cost of the equipment etc - you would have to spend upwards of £300 for TuneBoy or a powercommander. The rat runs are very good - I've only been on a few but they are very well organised and all sorts of riders go.

Thanks, my last bike was a ZX12 way too focused to just be able to have fun on, the Speed Triple is great, the right amount of power for the roads I like to ride and being able to explore the limits of the bike rather than have the bike find your limits is much more rewarding. I cant wait to unleash that exhaust note to experience it's full effect, even muted it won me over. I mostly ride on my own so joining up for some runs would be a good change, I'd like to make the Paignton one if the weather holds out.
