Did Triumph make two sorts of cans. I've seen a couple of S3s and Tigers that hardly make a noise, while mine makes enough row to wake the dead.

Tigers have a high can as standard as does the 1050 S3.

Yep I've had a look in the knowledge base, quite straight forward to do, just I don't have enough packing & I don't have a jigsaw, or an angle grinder with a suitable cutting disk ( Can borrow one from work)

I've also ordered a aftermarket baffle, got serious doubts it will make a lot of difference but it was cheap and worth a shot.

Yeah, I think I'll repack mine in the winter. Let us know how you get on with that baffle Rec.

Baffle arrived, but the seller quoted a OD of 35-38 (this refers to the outer bit you bolt in to the pipe) which was totally incorrect turned out to be 40mm.

I ordered a 4" one as an experiment,.

If you have a good look at the High Level Can's ( T595,T509 & Early 955i)exit pipe you'll notice there's a slight bend in it, hence the reason for ordering the 4" db killer rather than the 8".

Well in the end I cut whatever its called end off with a hacksaw and slid the Baffle into the end of the can, drilled a new hole into the end of the HL Cans Exit pipe and then a new hole in the Baffle, bolted it all up, but there was a bit of a gap around it ( which sort of defeats the hole point ............................. Filled the gap with Locite Steel & Metal Epoxy Filler

Only had it running in the garage, first impressions are promising but will do a road test shortly and report back.

Ok Tested on my really boring commute to and from work to-day , 40 mile around trip.

Works a treat, its taken the Edge of the exhaust note, enough for me to leave it at that, though a re-pack might also help.

Downside, well there had to be one, there's a Flat spot which is really noticeable when the engines cold between 3000-3500 rpm less so once its warmed up.

[edited]:

I'll bung a picture up shortly, got it from fleabay

Top picture is the one I bought ( I bought one not three )

Bottom picture is it fitted to my HL Can, just needs a coat of matt black paint to hide the resin I filled the gap with.

On reflection I would have like to have started with the Eight inch version rather than the 4 inch, but I'm happy with the result, I've a tuneboy so getting rid of the flatspot should not be a problem once I've figured out how to use tuneedit
