Sorry to mention my Gixxer but I serviced it last week and replaced the air filter with a K/N job. Much throatier sound and the throttle response seems a lot better.....................Anyone replaced a Triumph one and noticed this..........??

Strange you should mention it 'o' master Flash.
I recently replaced my standard one for a K&N on the 595 and didn't think too much about it although i thought it sounded a bit raspier , which seemed strange as i'd stripped and re-packed the race can.
Anyway, i took it for it's MOT with the race can on (it passed with it on last year, tester's discretion ) and the bastard failed it, said it sounded a bit raspy when revving it!
Went home and put the standard can on and that's when i noticed that the raspiness was from the induction, in a way that it wasn't with the standard filter.
So the answer to your question is..........yes.

They can't fail it for an induction rasp. All day when I was out I couldn't stop giving it plenty as the induction noise is totally different..........................

Although he failed it on the pipe because he what perceived to be 'raspiness, it wasn't from the pipe as i demonstrated to him when i returned with the standard one on.
I wouldn't mind but the fucking idiot passed my mates Mecatwin TBS the following day with it's very loud three pipe highly unsilenced exhaust.
Twat.
Oh, and he put five chips in the rear wheel after i'd only got them back from being re-coated three days before!!
Needless to say, i won't be going there next year.
