Or rather I haven`t .... is anyone else pissed off with the inefective and weak horn that comes with the R3 as standard fitment ???

On a bike this BIG it should have a suitably LOUD horn and not something that sounds like it fell of a kids tricycle. Lets face it. If some myopic cnut can`t see this mother coming along the road then he/she is probably deaf as well as blind so they need a bit of a wakening and there in lies the problem cos meep meep is all you get when what you actually want is something that is soooo LOUD it makes the recipient of the blast think they`re about to be flattend by a fully loaded Mack truck

So help is what I need to fill the tiny space under the headlamp Photo Album Imageand behind the fancy chrome grille with the loudest baddest HORN known to man/woman (delete as applicable)

Anyone got any ideas ???

My Dads Caddy..

You might want to check out the horn on the newer Cadillacs. The thing sounds like a cruise liner coming into port...

I know some chap on the Rocket III forum at Triumphrat.net changed his horns and had details on what he bought and where he mounted them. HTH
BTW I was born in the east end of London so your (people on this forum, not Mr. H in particular) nasty sense of humour isn't going to bother me. I'm a West Ham supporter so you can't hurt me any more

I agree for such a big butch bike the horn is total c--p. What were the ''back room boys'' at Triumph thinking of? Must the cheepest bit of 'junk' from their factory 3 in China that they could lay their hands on...

Having said that, where in the U.K can I a big, fat, loud, sexy horn from ??.

There is a 125db rated horn which will fit in the same position as the OE with a slight modification to the bellmouth (aren`t Dremmels brilliant) costs about $20.00

Good point well made. The horns on the Triumphs are pathetic! You want something that sounds like the ship to Valhalla, and you get the Road Runner!

Have read about Fiamm dual tone horns sounding good, but I like Stooz' claxen!

Ive got twin Fiamms on the tona (hence why they have packed up - I fitted them myself )

sounds like a car horn now. - a loud one.

off topic, but for paul: here's a pic which shows the leak beginning to show...

Photo Album Image
turns out it was the valve in the cover (which at the time I wasnt happy with how it fitted)
it was allowing oil into the breather, up to the air box, and flooding out the overflow..
£160 later..its alright now.

bit further back on topic......

my bro inlaw has an old BMW K100 which has bloody loud horns (2) on it and I have myself been considering swapping a pair out for the crap thing on my Speedy.....

wrecking yard and coat of spray paint spring to mind although if I had just splurged on a Rockit I spose I might give up my tighass ways for once and buy new ones.

the ones on the Beemer sound rather like a loud car horn but.....

I was thinking of getting a loud air horn, something like La Cucuracha or an 18 wheeler one, anyone know a good fitter?
