I wasn't sure what a POI was? A google map might be better if I understand the spreadsheet better?

A POI is a "points of interest" file specifically for TomToms/Garmins etc so they can't be in any other format ...otherwise they wouldn't be a POI anymore! ... trust me

What are the different import formats? I was thinking something like this with links to download the data into your nav tool. Would have to think of a way to update the data and what categories to have.

Different formats for different manufacturers of GPS unit... The link is quite funky but the file thing is so people can put all of these onto their own navigation device ... Could go like this Bob: "Do you know of a Dyno that knows TuneBoy?" Fred: "Yeah, ADC do" Bob: "where are they?" Fred: "Chesterfield" Bob: "Whereabouts?" Fred: "Do you have GPS?" Bob: "Yeah ..." Fred: "dowload the POI from the knowledge base the exact location and phone number is in there"

boycie: The link is quite funky but the file thing is so people can put all of these onto their own navigation device ... | /quote=me]with links to download the data into your nav tool.[/quote] Which is what I said. If you have a central repository (ie. the link above) you can then export that into anything you like. Just need to know the file formats. If someone can let me know what they are I can sort it out. Rather than putting a file in the KB which is always going out of date.

X: there are ov2, ovm, asc, csv to name but a few | quite a few use csv files with the same data presented differently ... The TomTom ov2 is a binary ... not "notepad" readable ....for example garmin csv ... -0.35850, 50.82397, "Alf's - Worthing (EX DEALER)> 441903200948" MioMap csv "Alf's - Worthing (EX DEALER)> 441903200948","Alf's - Worthing (EX DEALER)> 441903200948",-0.3585,50.8240,,, Garmin gpx <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <gpx xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd" version="1.1" creator="PoiEdit v5.1.0 build 210 ©2002-2007 by Dnote Software (http://www.poiedit.com)"><wpt lat="50.82397" lon="-0.3585"><name>Alf's - Worthing (EX DEALER)> 441903200948</name></wpt>
