Speed Triple 955i (99-01)
15 May 2008 13:18 |
Hi guys, Picked up my Speed Triple yesterday and the nagging in my head proved right, i'm a short ass and I am on tip toes on it! Has anyone had any experience with the lowering links from soupysperformance on eBay, check it out here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaym.....A:IT&ih=008 This seems like a miles cheaper and simplier option than buying a lowering kit from a manufacturer like Metisse and then having to have it fitted. I've read about adjusting seat packing, etc and rather do it properly as I defo need at least a 2inch drop. Many thanks!

That's just like mine - can lower or raise and they're rose jointed Just be aware that if you drop the back you'll need to drop the front or you'll end-up with a slow steering bus.

My bad, the lowering link on eBay is for a STREET Triple (thanks Phil for pointing that out!) Does anyone make something similar to what J-Zeus has fitted, he mentioned a company called NWS but I can't see the part on their website anymore Red Monkey what do you have fitted please? Thanks for your advice Manny, only just got the bike so i'll have a look in the Haynes manual although I need a drop of about 2" so doubt this will be enough to do it...

The honest answer is I don't know......I bought a used Ohlins shock and they can with it so I have no idea about their origins.

The ones in the pic look like the old NWS kit. Simon developed a few Triumph bits cos his wife had a Speed Triple (converted Daytona IIRC).

I went from only neing able to tiptoe with one foot to having the balls of both feet down by rotating the concentric adjusters 180 degrees, lowered the front by 10mm by raising the forks up through the yolkes. No prbs with the steering. Worth a try and free. Just be aware that the hugger may foul or at least be VERY close. Good luck

UPDATE, starting to get use to the height issue so I am awaiting for the chaps at soupysperformance to finish testing on a Speed Triple lowering kit (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) and then will buy one and report back. Thanks for your offer clogger but will have to decline... Peter sent me a great decription of adjusting the height on a 94 Speed Triple so if you fancy a free option of lowering one of them then ask him how!
