Having spent several weeks trying to source either an MPH inlay for my speedo face, or even a new clock, i found a whole instrument binnacle on ebay, but it went for silly money. So I decided, in the end, to get the speedo converter. You plug it in the back of the speedo, and then plug the cable into that. (in my case, anyway. Different bikes are different).

I HAVE read they are crap. I have also read that they are really good. The guy in the shop says his Ducati and an imported GSXR1000 run on them, because of the cost of fitting new clocks on the imported models.

I REALLY tried to get a new speedo or a new face, but it ain't happening for anything under silly money.

So, much as it galls me, I am going to give this little doo-hicky a shot and see how it is. The speedo will (or SHOULD) read MPH, the odo and trip should also be in MPH. BUT, as it is an old type turny numbers jobby, they will read the completed kilometers with the miles going on top of these. The trip should also read miles so I will finally know how bloody far I am going!

REALLY wanted a new face though, or a clock. I'll let you know how good it actually is.

[edited]:

I've got one on the Bimota, works a treat.

I must declare an interest in Motrax though.

Okay, update on the Motrax jobby. Having looked at the speedo, because it goes so fast, what with being a Blackbird and all, the useful part of the speedo would be almost illegible. At 90 degrees, or where 9 o'clock would be, reads 110mph. Which means that the dial between 30 and 40 is very small. And with the scameras all over the place set to an error reading of 2mph, it isn't really much use.

SO....back to the drawing board. A new speedo is £218, or a dial face is £20.
The odo and trip will stioll read in kilometers, but at least I'd be able to see how fast I was going!

Took the motrax thing back to the shop, and they wouldn't refund me, even though it was in exactly the same condition they sold it to me. Still unopened in the packet. Instead, they gave me a store credit note. Somewhat pissed off about this, because the guy talked me into it in the first place when all I called in for was to see if they had the dials. BUT...I guess I can spend it on something else at some time.

Just got to find a dial company that actually responds to emails now, the ignorant fucks!
