I have just replaced the fuel connectors with, apparently, the correct replacement parts. (My nearest dealer is 4 hours away in Dublin, so I got the parts and fitted them myself) QUESTION! The Sugar Candy OE parts had spring loaded shut off valves inside. A little white plastic tube pops out the end ahen you disconnect them. The repalcement metal parts do not appear to have any spring loaded shut off valves. As a consequence the pressurised petrol in the fuel rail squirts out when you disconnect them. And if you undo the wrong one first the petrol leaks out of the fr*gg*n tank! Is this progress or did the postman nick the useful bits?

Nope, that's the official fix. Good isn't it!

Its a f*ckin disgrace. Replace a part which can spray fuel all over the place all the time with a part which only sprays fuel all over tha place some of the time. I suppose that's progress!

I know this is old but I can't find the answer in here. I haven't had the recall done, just haven't got around to it. However, my bikes in bits at the mo, so it would be pretty easy to drop the fuel tank off and get them to fit the connectors. My question is that the current connectors seem pretty good o me and are easy to use. Are the new ones better? For some reason I've got it into my head that the replacement ones aren't as good as the current ones, apart from the fact that they are metal. Someone please enlighten me.

The replacements ones are for the fuel lines only, not the tank; so no point taking your tank in. The tank connector stays plastic, they have anodised ones for the lines. These do no include a shutoff valve so you leak petrol everywhere when you take them off

Gotcha, so you're saying that they are the male fuel couplings from the T595 shop, except that they are shite compared to the ones in the T595 shop, so you're saying I'd be better off leaving them as they are until I can afford the ones in the T595 shop? I almost wish I hadn't started this "T595 back to better than original condition" malarky now. A BMC air filter was £57! And a sleeve for the drop link was £49! Ah well, its cheaper than racing...

| This is a majorly crap design. I've had the fuel fittings replaced under warranty, but the plastic female parts failed on me in the middle of BFE yesterday....

just got a recall note a couple days ago, replaced the original connectors a year ago with complete set of metal ones. Although I wasn't having probs with the originals I'm going for distance and plastic is what it is. cost me +- 100 bucks and well spent for me peace of mind

Sorry for the late revival of this post, but are there any metal connectors out there with the built-in shut-off? I've got the recall connectors and have the fuel spillage issue every time I take the damn tank off. I know rideteamtriumph has some nice chromed brass fittings, but for $70 I'd like to KNOW I'm getting something that won't leak.

those fittings from team triumph do have a shut-off valve inside them. (I'm 98.532% sure)

http://www.mcmaster.com/ and search for part numbers 5478K71 and 5478K111. Should be around $40 for all four.

I have the Team Triumph ones and they don't leak when you disconnect. I replaced them after a friend of mine had an accident because of a failure of the original. I didn't mind paying for them for some peace of mind.

I had my plastic male connectors replaced with triumphs metal ones, however, now whenever I take off the tank the female connectors in the tank leak. I've been working around this by plugging one of the old male plastic connectors with sealant and plugging it into the tank while the tank is off. Is there a better way around this, like a replacement metal female connector for the tank? Something someone without a whole lot of workshop experience can fit?

rat, I looked into those couplings from mcmaster.com. But as far as I can tell these won't work. The female couplings McMaster sells uses an american NPT thread while the Triumph ones should have a BSPT threading. Ie, if you use the McMaster ones they will not seal properly.
