“Winning the title three years in a row is quite an achievement,” commented Triumph’s Commercial Director Tue Mantoni. “Our bike has proven itself against two generations of Japanese competition and is a great testament to our design and engineering teams. Considering this, and reading feedback on T595.net, particularly from the likes of Red Monkey, Cerberus et al - we will now concentrate on a 1200 DAYTONA to build on our success and get them to shut the fuck up.”:

Can't say I'm surprised. Been racing an R6 (albeit a '99 but with modded suspension and stuff) and while it handles more or less the same, the chassis and engine really are 'average' compared to the 675. Not really fair in comparison, dunno about the current models. After a race, I always smile when I get back on the Dayto even if it's only for a spin around the block. The R6 is a great bike, but the constant howling and absolute need to keep it between 10 and 12.000 revs if you want a decent drive out of the corners are cumbersome to say the very least.. what a difference with the 675. Also, if you look at the build quality and overall character, I think the choice is quite obvious. I like the looks of new R6/600RR a lot, but price/quality-wise I think the japs look and feel like cheap plastic bikes. Surprised you still see so few 675s (again by comparison) actually..
