The tick over screw on the single Amal carb needs to come out so far before the revs are right that its in danger of dropping out/going missing. The tensioning spring looks wrong too. Should the screw have a lock nut and no spring ?

They never had a lock nut on the pilot air screw.
Spring would be right on any Amal before the concentric which used an O ring to keep the air screw where you left it.

The Pilot air screw should be about 1 1/2 turns out from fully in. If it's more than 1 turn away from that then you are compensating for something else.

If the air screw is a long way out that suggests it is running rich.
Could be a sign of any one of the usual things.
Sinking float
Worn float needle
Clogged air filter.
Worn fuel jets (any).
Worn needle.

As JN says, it could be anything.
make sure the throttle cable has some slack and the throttle slide is hitting bottom cleanly (and not dangling). You should hear it. Presumably you have the big spring on top of it under the cap!
The spring on the idle screw is just to hold it still. It had no locknut.

I will check things out as advised and let you know.
She wet sumps much worse than my WDM20 which sees just as little use... probably wear in the oil pump ? Unlike the M20 which has a drain plug I let it out by loosening the base plate....... I guess some kind of none return valve mod is available out there ?

Thanks guys

[edited]:

IIRC the M20 has a gear oil pump with a ball bearing that doesnt always sit very well in the bottom hole whereas the T100 will have a different type, a two piston one IIRC.
I remember somebody in the BSAOC showing non return valves to fit in the out pipe from the tank. Cant remember who though, 15 years ago.
I'll bet somebody will advertise them in the Triumph club mag or Classic Bike etc.

Wet Sumping easy to solve...

Take the oil pump off, unscrew the two square headed plugs.

Catch the springs and balls. I fit new balls and springs Just because theyre cheap.

The find a punch and using the ball tap it onto the valve seat surface..

This will re-seat the balls and form a seal..hey-presto no wet sumping..

Putting an extra valve in is taking a risk that it will also prevent oil flow....oops blown engine time.
