An elderly guy on a Bonnie broke down outside today. After a couple of hours and a crowd of passing bikers had stopped I wandered out to see if there was anything I could do or if he wanted to garage it for the night. "Its ok he said I'm just waiting for The RAC".............I nearly pissed myself. This Triumph had a kickstart and a right hand gearchange. The RAC truck stayed for all of two minutes and finally a local recovery truck loaded it on the back and off they went..............

The old guy on said Bonnie had obviously forgotten to bring his fag papers and baling twine with him....you could usually fix a Bonnie with that....

I just have a feeling that your average GSXR rider on faced with the prospect of doing points gaps and timing with a couple of Rizlas would have the same reaction as I did when someone told me that I could run my 4x4 on Mazola....I thought that they were pulling my pud...

As you well know I ride a gixxer but I also have the pre gixxer mentality when you had to fix things at the side of the road so I really don't give a shit and I'm happy that my present bike is faultless......................

I used to use emery paper to clean the points faces too Riggsy. Then a mechanic told me that by doing that it frigged up the hardened contact faces and then they wouldn`t last long. Sounds right I suppose but it seemed to work for me....

Bollocks, May sound right but I made real beer money tuning 2-strokes for hovercraft racing about 15 years ago.... I hanker after those 2-stroke days. Truth is, the racers didn't even know how to balance thier carbs properly, let alone allow thier engines breath properly. Like I said, Happy days

I once used araldite to temporarily repair a broken 2nd gear pinion - it held for 6k miles. Those were the days when I had no money but lots and lots of ideas for keeping on the road.
