Daytona 955i (02)

I did approx 70 miles this morning, at a variety of speeds over a variety of road surfaces, and after the first 3 or 4 miles or so spent all the time with my hands tingling to the point where they were white numb when I got off after about an hour and a half. ( they wernt cold)

Why is this..?...it got so bad today it was becoming distracting....honest officer.

I have had my 02 Daytona for about a month, done about 900 miles and never experianced it before.

I fitted heated grips a while ago but rode it after and all was well, I was making a concious effort to relax ( fell asleep twice - actually rode better ) the hands, arms and shoulders and the bike seemed to be running fine and sounded no different.

Whats that all about then, anyone got any ideas??

Could be Reynauds syndrome, commonly known as vibration white finger, I suffer from it, which is why I no longer ride four cylinder bikes unless they have balancer shafts or rubber mounted engines.
But Triumph triple motors are pretty smooth, so a more likely cause is a trapped nerve in the neck, which can also cause numbness/tingling in the fingers, I also had this problem with a Kawasaki GPZ1000RX, caused by the leaning forward riding position, oh the joys of getting old.

I got round the problem by frequently adjusting my riding position, particularly head angle, but it's not a long term solution, can you fit a set of higher bars ?

Typically it's tension and gripping too tight
Do you think the vibration in the bars has changed - something coming loose - bar ends pinch bolts etc

heated grips - are they bigger diameter

Look at http://www.t595.net/messa.....light=lead+shot

Got new gloves?
Stop smoking 30 a day like me it buggers yer circulation and I seem to suffer from "white finger" courtesy Moto Guzzi

Ducatiman: I will pass on your advise to SWMBO who no doubt will be delighted

StevesTBS: I think you may be right about the trapped nerve, I had one a while back, looks like its back......Bast**d

Jimmyj: I will check the bar ends but dont fancy giving up smoking.

cheers gents

Another cause is putting too much weight on the hands..... bend yer elbows and not have your arms locked solid from the shoulders to the wrist.... bend the arms and relax a bit

You can also avoid it by the simple remedy of changing the weight of the bar end weights.

But IIRC tis predominantly caused by vibes - whether you actually notice them or not.
