I was going to suggest - 1930 Seven Stars, Stroud, Hampshire - becuse its OK for west Sussex and south Hampshire area, and just off A3 for a quick blast back to south west London and about an hour plus from my gaff. TQ - probably need to leave Oxfordshire about 1815 - it is a bit of run to be honest for a school night... lets see what the weathers like on Tuesday? southern softie anorak now on and fully zipped up

My night vision is dreadful (almost as bad as my day vision, but not quite as bad as my nav vision). Don't mind doing one part of the ride in the dark, but not both, so I'm sticking to daylight meets until the evenings start getting lighter....

Excellent! It really is the most fantastic sound. "Like a three-cylinder Ferrari", as Captain Trumpey put it. The big question is: Baffle in? Or baffle out?

I just had a thought (yes, I know, it hurts) Petersfield and the surrounding area are in a natural bowl, which has it's own weather system at times. eg, it can be sunny there, with fog or rain all around and vice versa. I've also been snowed in at Stroud (a few miles away) with no snow after a couple of miles. I worked in Petersfield for a year, so got to know it's wierd habits. It also gets bastard cold this time of year in the surrounding areas of the downs and meon valley. Ice on the roads is a real possibility too.

Don't mention fucking salt. The bastards round here seem obsessed with the stuff. At the slightest sign of a slight frost they're out there spreading the white death all over the county. I made the mistake of going for a ride last week on a bright and sunny day and neglecting to powerwash my bike immediately afterwards. It's testimony to the build quality of the Ape that, a week later, only the chain and the rear wheel nut show any signs of the evil corrosion. Take care of those bikes folks - it's hell out there at the moment.

Well, I had got so far as putting the instructions on the tank, then I had a call and had a bit of family emergency - so I'm afraid I wouldn't have been there. Looks like it would have been the sort of Southern meet I go to- the one where no-one else turns up.... Maybe next time....
