Ah, you got me there...

No actually I don't.

I'm selling the C.E. regretfully (see profile for details). It was just a bit of chagrin thatTriumph can't come up with a decent sequel to the 'Tona. 1125R (tried it on the track; shite), RC8 (tried it on the road; despicable fuelling), 1098, 1078... It's not as if there's no demand for litre and litre+ sportsbikes.

At last! A measure of support for an unpopuar view...

That makes you an Obama supporter! Can't make head or tails out of what these people are actually on about though...

"Less government" is what the hippie owner of a bike shop in Santa Fe told me 16 years ago, and he called my rented Fleetwood (brothel on wheel on totally self steering wheels) a "Clinton car". I knew enough about US politics then, rented the mountainbike and set off into the desert...

Not me!

I love the fact that my 955 is the last of the line.

I don't want anything faster... this is too fast for me already. I don't ride on the track, and if you really want to go faster than this on the road then you're a better man than I am, Gungadin.

I won't be paying £9000 for any new bike anytime in the near future.

So I'm cool without it...

well said strumpet, my old goldie has plenty of power performance and handling for my riding style (like an old woman)

and its reached a point where it shouldnt depreciate any more.

barring any riding disasters i hope to keep mine for a long while something ive never managed to say or do with a car.

Actually I don't like saying goodbye to the C.E. at all, but having two bikes will only mean one won't get used, so that's pointless.

If you believe the asking price my dealer has suggested to me it has depreciated amazingly little in the 2,5 years and 10k mls I've had it, although you have to take into account the suspension mods I had done.

DCMC: 10K? Jeez... that's a lot of money in anyone's book! My dealer says 7900 asking price, he'll take 1k for the trouble of having the thing in his showroom, and allowin gme to avoid the VAT and warranty trap. Oh well...

the f4 is quite a man sized bike, the 4 cyl lump is pleasantly raw, the handling is sharp, comfort a distant thought... riding position "interesting", though of course as you do get the little female fysio thrown in for free...

It is deplorable,,as has been suggested, its not like there is no buyers, I think the succsess of the (at a small risk) girly 675, has diminished any chance of a big Tona, one may have thought the opposite, but alas were left with SFA...

It does make you wonder if there is a new big engine on the way.

All good if the next S3 upgrade goes on a diet and has high spec suspenders. Call it an "R" model that will kick Tuono R and Super Duke R butt.

4CE... you were a spoilt kid. Daytona CE and MV Agusta in the garage and you need something more.

I am sure there will a big Daytona but Triumph's been pretty busy with all these cruisers and Street triple and the new Tiger etc.

After the success of the 675 Daytona and Sreet Triple....it only seems so so sooo logical to build a 1025 etc. They'll be fools not to do so. So the only thing is I guess....... time. When they get the time to get that new engine right.

1) I wasn't spoilt as a child; that's probably at the root of my problem;

2) On my 1st trackday today on the F4 I was passed by a girlie looking bike. And we weren't dawdling. Oh well.

But to tell y'all the truth: the F4 is (straight out of the crate) one trackday tool... And perfectly useable to go the shops etc as well!

Itie build quality? Left hand side Itie flag sticker got blown off. Oh well reprise...

Well that may be, however on our wide open plains, the precision "TOOLS", are often left in our lumbering wake....

ok.. try this.

i went to a track day in almeria last week.
rode 350 km down there in the morning..
let out 3 psi..
and went on track all day.

now.. i aint no riding god.. but..
i was mixing it up with fully track specced gsxr thou's, and 1098's.

on a road bike? on stock suspension and standard tyres?
cummon!

by lunch, the track bikes were making clear road on the 900 mtr back straight. but we are talking about 180 bhp bikes here. and i'm on a 600 (and could be classed as a fat f**ker too.)

but in the twisty sections.. haha. bring it on.

then i packed up my bike.. and rode 350 km home again.

now.. i did the same day last year on the 955.
and my 955 puts out 134 rear wheel bhp.

so, it was 955 power vs 675 handling.

i know which one helped me the most.

toolie.

(bloody good fun on either bike, btw.)

As I think I mentioned, got passed by a small girlie looking bike on the last lap of the last session... and I was finally motoring a bit!

Mebbe he could ride and I can't?

We were both enjoying ourself (fantastic weather!), and that's what counts!

675's regulary clean up the SoT class on twisty circuits but then on those same circuits 600 Yams and Hondas regulary clean up the open bike classes. Come to the power circuits and bye bye big bikes cos they leave the 600's standing. It has always been the same and in the end it often comes down to the riders skill rather than the bike they are on (within reason) 600 rider trounced all but one of the R1's at Darley last time out and that was an ex AMA bike with huge hosepower down the straight ridden by a Darley specialist.

The riceburner 600's are never a problem, not for the C.E., not for the MV. Too weak low down; takes 'em too long to get going out of corners, which counts on Zandvoort, with never more than a few 100 metres between corners. The 675 Dayto seems to have the best of both worlds there: amazing handling and a lot of traction out of corners. I don't seem to get rid of one on the straight as well, so no lack of top speed on a relative short straight (well under a km).

or this..

http://www.putfile.com/pic/3228088

or this.. next to my loverly st (which i sold to get a 675)

http://www.putfile.com/pic/3238681

its an '02 double sided swing arm 955i.

**************************************

oh.. and the blue and white thing?
that was the 675's replacement,
when my love was shipped to espana.

it's not right that the red bling machine was asked to commute.
300 miles a week thru sarf lundun is not what the 675 is made for.

she was made for sun-baked twisty roads, for long days winding thru the mountains, followed by a beer.

(and no, the gixer and the 675 are not the same.
not even in the same ball park.
and then some.
with bells on.)
