My mate has a Maserati Bi-Turbo and he said that he wanted to get the timing belt done with new tensioners etc. He had been quoted ................£1500.....................but the bold flash said he would do it. I have done them before and its not that difficult as long as you don't get the timing out a tooth or two............. The kit was £350 and I said to him............
£700 all in and he was over the moon.......................

You know what they say......"A friend in need is a pain in the arse"........................

I've had enough of it completely. I don't get the media's obsession with it. It's over-reported and all the football phone-ins do my head in with the constant analysis, speculation and armchair experts. There are other sports although at times you'd be hard pushed to know it.

Is it true that copper wire was invented by two Scotsmen fighting over a penny?

Having travelled all over the world the English are the tightest crowd I've seen. Loads of examples but the one I remember was the guy with his family in Spain with a calculator adding up the total for lunch, then gets the waiter over to say they had been charged 5 euros more than they had been yesterday for the same food.........I think I may have passed on that one.

They'll be Southerners though. A good Naaaarthan lad would've called the waiter over and bunged him a tenner.

Tis the burden of the "nicer" class of person Flash. I fixed a neighbours "new" (2001 really), Focus diesal estate. Changed the oil and filter and had a set too with the drivers side 'leccy window. £191 later, 'tis fixed (you have to buy the whole bloody lot - motor and all from Ford, not just the bloody cable, which was all that had bust) and now he wants me to do the cambelt on that before he goes on holiday. On Monday. And he NEVER pays me a penny!

Can I come down to you and change the cambelt on the Maser for a half cut?

That's shit PG. My dad was a bit of a mug (no offence) like that. Always doing jobs for people and too soft to take or ask for a penny.

I had a mate who wanted his CBR600 serviced. I refused because he's so fucking clueless he'd have thought any and all problems he had from then on were in some way associated with whatever service work I'd done. I told him to get a manual and some tools and I'd talk him through it. As far as I know, the bike's still on the same oil...

You only learn by doing.....I'd never pulled a clutch until today but with the right tools, a manual and some cheap digital verniers it has so far proved a piece of piss and I haven't even had to drain the oil.

People are either too lazy or somehow afraid to tackle jobs.

In his case he was too fucking tight but I think it's largely fear.
