Maybe more likely the oil seal on the small sprocket drive shaft - these can go if the bike is overfilled with oil, or if the chain is too tight. Fairly easy to replace and not expensive.

My 2002 Daytona 955i is the same.... exactly the same. Some days it leaks there, some it does not. ...... and very thin oil....

Clean the area and track it down.....

At first I thought it was my oil drain bolt, but it is not.....

I am still observing mine...

Hope you find it.... at least it is not a big issue....

Nigey Wigey,
Pay attention to what Ron says...check to see that the drain plug has the (soft) copper / aluminum washer. It happened to me. I fretted for months until I changed my oil myself. Lo & behold! No washer...problem fixed.

Ron,

My 02 Daytona was leaking from all three sidestand bolts.
I removed the bolts (one by one), and cleaned the oil off them and degreased the bolt holes.

I used a healthy dose of perm-a-tex formagasket on the threads, torqued them in tight and have not had a leak since.
