ive finally had enough of the sound of me high level carbon can.ok it sounds like an F1 but with plugs in and lid on it still makes me ears ring after a ride out.whats the best can for less than 300 quid that has the looks and aint so loud?

Why not pick one of the available cans that have a road-legal removable baffle ..?? Blueflame make them, as do Wolf/Trident, plus possibly others as well ...... All priced round about your 300 quid AFAIK.

Well I'm still waiting for my High Level Can to arrive, the ebay seller i bought it from is a prick

I'm a little concerned about the noise level as well, as I hope to use the bike for work once the weather picks up, the neighbours are not going to be to impressed at 5.00 am in the morning

I've been looking at these db killers on Ebay as a possible solution just to cut the noise down a bit anyone tried one ?

its hellish loud rec but itll be ok just starting it in the morning as long as ya pull away gently...itll be unbelievably loud about 9000 and its a pain in the arse changing it for an M.O.T and when ya go to track days and cops love em.lol.yeh ebay can be a bit of a fcuker...all done on trust.gonna have a look at the db killers now.
thanks for the info nige...what do ya do about the down pipe as i guess the can comes without them?

If you buy a new can from any supplier it comes with a link pipe mate. I bought a extra link pipe for mine so I have both a high-level and a low level option.

I have the same can and with foam ear-plugs in its fine.... nothing against you but just wondering if either I've lost some hearing or my pipe some what quieter. Should get my hearing tested soon.

without plugs... yeah can't ride very far without ears ringing.

As far as the neighbours are concerned. When coming back home really late I switch the engine off down the street and let it roll in neutral for 50 metres into my driveway and in the mornings I push it out into the street before starting it up so it doesn't wake next doors up.

That's a coloured titanium Trident on mine. In the photo it has a low-level link pipe fitted, but I have a high-level pipe as well.

Maybe it just needs repacking nigey, I love the sound of my HL can (it hides the sounds of all the rattles)

It also gets through it's MOT with it on and has been ok on track days ... but not been on track since the noise testing started.

I've just put a Triumph HL on my Daytona, although it doesn't seem as bad as some Jap bikes with cans, I haven't wound it up yet.
I have noticed on mine, that there are very small, but neat, Tig welded tacks on the allen screws at the outlet, these have been polished, and appear as if they've been on since new, is this right?

That's settled that then! If it comes to it in the future, the dremmel will be bought out to play, can always get new screws,
as I say I don't think mine is really that bad.

Repacking the Triumph can aint so easy. There's lot more involved than just the allen heads on the outside. The carbon is just a sleeve over the real metal can inside. I think some cutting is required to get to the wool and then you have to weld it back.

Had the bike re-mapped at Wylie & Holland in Wellington, top service, they even managed to fit a new rear tyre at a moments notice, as I was away at a MAG rally in Middlesbrough this weekend, can't fault them, bike goes well too!

bluesman, with both baffles out it cackles like a goodun when the throttle is knocked off.its changed the temperament of the bike tho, being a bit jerky if im not in the right gear.do ya reckon it needs remapping?i thought if it went from high level to high level it would be ok?

Thanks for the web sites mate , the can looks great Nige, as for remapping I checked with local Triumph dealer when I fitted mine and they agreed with what I though, same as you, that high level to high level won't require a remap, I have to say that mine is running smoother and is less "jerky" on the overrun, I have left the top baffle in don't think that would make a difference though.
Thanks again for the web info
