whats up with that - the right hand fuse keeps popping (takes out both headlights)!! so any ideas where the short might be?

i;d wager that you have a problem with chaffing in the wiring somewhere, and the power is short to ground.
as i recall, it is not a terribly uncommon thing.

Check for chafing where the loom passes by the headstock area for starters
