check the wiring under the ignition. Its possible its rubbing and exposing a live wire, which if it touches the frame...
not known to dealers, might be a one off that I saw.

Tis true - keep an eye on it from the cable clamp on the right hand side of the headstock to the bottom of the switch.

Had extra insulation (shrink wrap stuff) put over that bit at both 5K and 10K services
