You should be able to get one for that money with both. A good one will come with a line and a brush cutter (blade) Don't confuse a petrol strimmer with an electric one - they carry bigger, thicker lines and will put electric strimmers to shame. At that price, most have a flexible shaft (like a speedo drive) and some can be split in the middle for easy storage. I paid about £125 for my Mountfield. I'd suggest you have a look at a local garden machinery place. The DIY sheds are good for cheap mowers but things like JCB/McCullouck strimmer look a bit crappy to me. If you can find a cheap Stihl or Husqvarna....result.

ash two of our lads were strimming not so long back. melon (he has a head like a water melon) was using a brush cutter & joe was clearing up. joe went to ask melon something, melon turned round & caught the blade in joe's trouser leg. luckily it was at not more than tick-over & resulted in nothing worse than a scratch & a mangled pair of trousers. joe now has a homemade pair of shorts made from the remains of his work trousers

I bought an el cheapo JCB petrol strimmer from Makro for £40 (+ vat) a couple of months ago, was well pleased, worked well, easy to start, ... . . . . . . . . . . .... until yesterday, it has now got a fuel starvation prob, most likely no filter fitted. Got to open it up and have a look. Still works but you need to keep it partly on choke to get enough fuel in it to run.

Bloody things - ripcord came off my petrol one.......so, took it apart and the sodding recoil spring exploded on me!!! So, the parts may have to go to the dealer for repair - I've tried 3 times to get the spring back in!! Bastard!

Took my JCB strimmer carb to bits and blow it out with an air line and it works fine again. Now the missus can carry on trimming the grass.

back to strimmers.... If you get one make sure its got a harness with it you'll look like a tit but it'll save exploding spinal discs...
