try this out! i made a bracket that the diagnostics plug snaps right into and located it where it was convienient for me. the plug is just like those used on the busses that i work on and is already designed to install into sheet metal. http://www.t595.net/album/album.asp?album=8486 took me a total of an hour to complete the mod including fabricating the bracket i designed. easily made in half an hour when you have a full metal shop at your disposal what i tried to accomplish was having it convienient and solid and leaving the LED visible when the cable is hooked up.

and a warning about not drilling into battery or ECU may not be amiss.

I'd inevitably need to remove the seat to get to the battery in order to clip the 12v CO tester on, unless I made a socket for that too.

I extended mine to go under the pillion seat rather than the rider seat. Easy to get to, out of the way of the general crud on the road.

I just rerouted the cable so that it comes out under the right side panel. I plug would be a good idea.

Correction; I meant to say that a plug would be a good idea. I would've liked to have seen the pictures, too, but T595.net isn't currently recognizing me a a premier member. [head scratching] Hey Josh, I live in Elmira; let's go for a ride!

Homertrix: I extended mine to go under the pillion seat rather than the rider seat. Easy to get to, out of the way of the general crud on the road. | I just leave my TB cable plugged in & coiled under the rear seat/cover. I share the concern about having the connector exposed in the illustrated mod - reasonable idea for the bracket but I'd want to maybe install a blanking rubber connector in the socket to keep it from elements. As for the 12V, if you don't already have it, install accessory plug in same general area as the bracket. I use mine mostly for the trickle charger.

D'Ecosse, leaving the tuneedit adapter attached to the wiring harness has been said to create a small current drain.. but if you are leaving your bike on a battery tender, i guess it would not matter at all..

Hi Cerb - I think it was me who actually reported that originally! That was first weekend I hooked it up like that. Turned out however I had a bad regulator! Pure co-incidence. My bike hasn't moved in at least 2 months (unfortunate travel schedule gives me no time to play) - no tender hooked up either - started right up at weekend. i.e. it doesn't cause any real drain to have the cable attached - at least when nothing is hooked up to the USB end! (might be different story when laptop is connected)

i know (or think i remember) that someone did an actual draw test off the battery and the key off load (without the tunboy connected to anything on the USB end) was double the draw without the tuneedit adapter conected to the wiring harness plug.. but again, this is my memory speaking here, which is not 100% on most days

Leaving the TuneBoy plugged in drains the battery within a week or two, I know from experience

Steve Bassen: Leaving the Tuneboy plugged in drains the battery within a week or two, I know from experience | My experience different as testified above. Indeed over last 6 months (with very little riding) don't think my tender has been on for more than 2 weeks max and TB cable has been plugged in entire time. If your battery is already in poor shape, then they tend to drain if left unattended, especially if alarm is fitted. Not to be disagreeable Steve, but just because you have the TB cable connected, how can you say categorically that this is the very (sole) reason for your resultant situation? I kinda did the same thing when my regulator failed - it was same weekedn I fitted the cable & assumed that was the cause - it absolutely was co-incidence & the real reason was my regulator was not heat-sunk & I did a substantial ride on the day it failed. Performance since has proved beyond doubt for me it was unrelated. My cable being connected cannot be drawing any more than yours, so one could only conclude that reason for your drain (or ability to hold the charge) is different from mine & unrelated to the TB cable. I have an SVR Battery incidentally & have been delighted with it to date - witness above! OK - at weekend when I get back I will meausre the standing current with & wihout TB cable attached.

Easy to get to, out of the way of the general crud on the road. | Extending the cable to go under the rear cowl is a good idea. Keeps the debris out of the plug. Maybe I'll work on a bracket and mounting point there next..... and post a pattern for it if anyone is interested?

With the TB cable plugged in I checked current draw on the battery and got something like 30mA... once I unplugged it, it dropped to essentially zero. This was with a fresh battery, too. Just leaving it parked for a few days would drain it enough where there starter would sound weak. I'll freely admit that every bike's different, though, so what happened in my situation might not be the same across the board. BTW Ken, are you ever going to start producing/selling gsxr swap triple clamps for the Daytona? That cad drawing you posted a few months back looked interesting
