replaced my worn out OEM front pads for EBC Double H sintered & i'm finding them to 'grabby' on the initial bite even after 250 plus miles. I know thats a good thing for advertising but its not helping when i'm making "technical adjustments" when entering fast corners... i much prefer the slower controlled feel of me old pads - what do you guys reckon?

Depends how you define 'grabby', and how much lever you grab during your "technical adjustments". HH pads certainly have a healthy initial bite; that's why many prefer them...

How were they bedded in? Have you pulled the pads to check for glazing or scoring?

it could be that the pistons within the calipers are sticking then coming on hard as lever pressure increases, it might mean they are caked up and need a clean.... try giving the caliper a good service and try them again....!

Yeah pull the calipers in bit's and clean them out before you blame the pads.

You'll need brake fluid, brake cleaner, red rubber grease and copperslip, and a bucket of water.

I love them for road use - excellent bite and feel (and they sound great too )

This IS for road use right? Track I use unsintered [Ferodo's] - different ball-game

Unsintered don't "Eat" the disc!!

I always use unsintered Ferodo's in my Le-Mans + it has the OE discs on it after 70K miles!!!

Guzzi = Cast Iron discs!

Personal preference, because (IMO) they're shit in the wet - but un-sintered appear to have a steeper performance curve when applied - whereas sintered appear to have a flatter one (as in initial bite and progressive bite on sintered appear to be closer together in terms of performance - this is my own experience - there's probably reams of info on the real truth in this that would be worth a read though) So with a VERY good setup and a *proper master cyl.* you could find that unsintered are the way to go in terms of feel and predictive progression VS lever pressure

Problem with the sintered ones on 'proper' race brakes are that a lot of the time whilst working at the extreme temps/conditions that the track demands, they leave a residue on the discs which can VERY quickly build up and at worst lead to a loss of feel and a 'squeal' and more usually into a feeling of warped discs when pulled on hard

The sintered ones (as I understand it) are designed more for road use [even under VERY aggressive braking - which I do a hell of a lot of], where you're not running AP/Brembo etc race systems at their max demands and temp's and are using the more mainstream stainless discs

X-Man or another with race experience would be able to shine a more elightened opinion from that angle I think, I just go from my own experiences TBH.

Seem to recall unsintered were known as 'organic' then sintered were 'semi-mettalic', but then there's ceramic also now to choose from for road applications

I`ve the same experience as dink. Just fitted EBC HH pads, a Brembo radial M/C, and gave the callipers a good clean and greased the pistons. Now it feels a bit "all or nothing ". Bit unnerving sometimes....
